As much as people say I’m brave for stepping out and being who I am, I don’t feel it. I don’t feel brave, nor do I feel very confident. Do I feel some kind of peace? Yeh. Do I feel relieved at not having to live in denial? Definitely. Having to hide who you are purely because of other people around you, or because of how society views you is fucking shit. Looking different is bound to attract attention. It goes without saying. I try not to go out at all but when I do, I expect to attract the attention of ignorant, small-minded people. Whilst I find a lot of this comes from certain demographics, it can come from anyone. It wears me down, it pisses me off and it ruins my ability to live life…but I guess that’s the price I pay for looking the way I do.
